I lost my cousin on Saturday, October 23rd. One of my best cousins. Nonso Onyeabo. He had a blog also and major impact on my life. He was a lawyer, banker, an awesome awesome writer, a POET. His blog - http://ozaveshe.blogspot.com
He was ill, we had faith, he moved on to a better place.

My sister won a competition that same week. She's an excellent writer also and a truly wonderful person - http://morgan.edu/About_MSU/News/Ford-Turpin_Creative_Writing_Contest_Winners.html

Her fear of it was
more than her
love for him so
it bit her

she was made to
crush it's head
only if,
she loved him

so piercing it's fangs
into her biceps
breaking veins and
spilling blood -
dark thick lumps of it

making a memory scar she
would never, ever forget
espeacially to remember
if to fear...

who to love.

Announcing "Out of Curiosity" -- book release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Out of Curiosity - poetry collection to be released

Announcing the publication of a collection of poetry on Life, Love, Learning and Journeys
Lagos, Nigeria - July 2010

On Saturday 7 August, 2010, Out of Curiosity, Nwabundo Onyeabo's debut collection of poems will be released at the Hub - The Palms Shopping Mall, Lekki Lagos from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

Out of Curiosity contains 47 poems written between 1996 and 2010, exploring love, life and other matters. It is a glimpse into the mind of a young lady from childhood, through her teenage years and young adult life. The published poems will amke you smile, make you laugh, may anger you and will definitely make you wonder.

The eclectic collection aims to fill the gaping need for young, confident female readers and writers of poetry in Nigeria.

Regarding the collection CNN African Journalism Award winner Tolu Ogunlesi says: "Out of Curiosity is not merely a poet sketching familiar and unfamiliar worlds from the vantage point of 'curiousness', it is a poet asking a reader, or a million readers, to take that transformative step, "out of" - away from - passive curiosity, into a world where big and small, old and new, personal and public, strange and normal, past and present, Africa and America, love and failed love, all band together to build a home, as though it were the most natural thing to do in the world."

Readings from the book will be done by Wole Oguntokun, CEO Jason Vision; Kunle Adeyoola, Rooftop MCs; and the author, Nwabundo Onyeabo.

The collection will be distributed by the management of The Hub.

About the Author
Nwabundo Nneka Onyeabo holds degrees in Public Relations and an MBA in Marketing & Finance from Morgan State University. Some of her poems have appeared in the Sable Quill Magazine and a number of websites.
